This practice is a method to reach ecstatic trance that is mediated by body postures and sonic driving. It is used for healing, journeying, shape-shifting and connecting to the universal mind. The postures adopted in this practice are shown in selected pre-historic and indigenous artifacts and are explained as ritual instructions by anthropologist Felicitas Goodman. People that adopt these postures report experiences/visions that show great similarity. |

Fanny Perez, @fannnsystem, Sufi whirling performance featuring Clua Perez. Title: Acto Canario. Canario is a durational and transdisciplinary performance and ritual to honor and open up to the idea of the all-embracing unity, the sacred One.
Fran Flaherty, @fcflaherty, Performance Art. Title: Vacuum Sealed. Materials: paint, canvas, customized plastic bags for canvas, shop vac. The use of a painting exercise to represent the "vacuum-sealed" emotions is a poignant metaphor. The fine lines on the canvas symbolize the meticulous containment of her emotional turmoil. The act of encasing the canvas in plastic and sealing it using a vacuum underscores the deliberate effort to protect and isolate these emotions from the outside world, mirroring Flaherty's own attempts to shield herself from the potential upheaval caused by their release.

Many people in today’s society identify as feminists but we often don’t verbalize HOW we’re feminists. For this meeting, we will talk about feminism as a practice and how it manifests in daily life with personal stories and anecdotes. Performers will be exploring stillness, boundaries and self-care in real time by folding/unfolding a comforter (84" x 72") and fitting their bodies on it into human sculptural formations. The piece will be improvised and poses will be held for a few breaths of time for documentation and appreciation.
